Dear PCHA Jack and Linda Baker Reining Classic Finalist:

CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a Finalist for one of the premier reining events in the country. The fact that you have qualified for this event, is an accomplishment in itself.

Here are a few facts and information you will need when you ride in the Finals at The Los Angeles Equestrian Center – November 1st & 2nd, 2024

Your first draw for the 1st Go-Round Friday Night at 6:00 P.M. will be computerized.

A DRAW PARTY FOR THE SECOND ROUND, WILL BE HELD SATURDAY AFTERNOON, NOV. 1st.  Time will be announced.

To be eligible to ride in the Finals, your trainer must be a current member of PCHA. Please call the PCHA office or check the PCHA Web page, if you are not sure about your trainer’s status.

The PCHA Jack and Linda Baker Reining Classic Final is a two-round event. The winner will be the one with the highest combined scores from both rounds. The first round will be Friday, November 1st in the Dome Arena with a starting time of 6:00 P.M.

Tell your friends, the show will have ONE “Last Ditch JLB Qualifying class”. All riders entered, with a score, qualifies for the Final. That class will be held Friday morning November 1st, in the Dome Arena.  Check the horse show schedule for that class.

ANY ENTRY THAT COMES IN AFTER THE FIRST DRAW IS DONE, WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO FIRST. SO MAKE SURE YOU ENTER BEFOREHAND.

HOW TO ENTER

  1. EVERYONE ENTERS THE OPEN DIVISION OF THE BAKER FINALS

  2. THOSE THAT ARE ELIGIBLE (check specs) CAN ENTER THE ROOKIE DIVISION.

IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE ROOKIE DIVISION YOU WILL BE ENTERING TWO DIVISIONS, THE OPEN AND THE ROOKIE. YOU CANNOT JUST ENTER THE ROOKIE DIVISION; YOU MUST ENTER THE OPEN DIVISION ALSO.

FOR THE FIRST GO-ROUND, YOU WILL RIDE NRHA PATTERN #6

Scores from the first round WILL NOT be announced.

The second round will be Saturday, November 2nd. STARTING TIME 6:00 P.M.

FOR THE SECOND GO-ROUND, YOU WILL RIDE NRHA PATTERN #10

TIES

One of the judges will be designated as a tie-breaker judge prior to the start of the first round to break all ties. Exhibitors tied for Champion in Open or Rookie Division, require a run-off. They have the alternate option of agreeing not to run-off and to be named co-champions, but must determine the winner of the awards by a flip of a coin. If they do not agree, the decision will be made by the designated tie-breaker judge’s scores from either the first or second go-round.

Ties that are worked off will use the same pattern and order of go as was used during the event; however, there will not be more than one run-off.

If a tie occurs after the run-off, the entrants will be named co-champions, but must determine the winner of the awards by a flip of a coin. In the event of a co-championship, the participant that loses the coin toss does have the option of purchasing a second trophy saddle.

THE AWARDS CEREMONY

It is expected that each and every horse and rider will walk back into the pen for the Awards Ceremony. If you ride more than one horse, please have your catch rider wear appropriate western attire. NO SHORTS OR TENNIS SHOES WILL BE ALLOWED! HORSES WILL BE SADDLED. IF NOT PROPERLY ATTIRED, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE LINE-UP FOR THE AWARD CEREMONY AND WILL RECEIVE ANY AWARDS WON OUTSIDE THE PEN.

We will try to move the ceremony along as fast as we can, however the more qualified, the more prizes to give out. Those of you that are not in the top ten placing’s or receiving a special award, may exit the pen as soon as you get your award. The lower awards will be handed out first.

ROOKIE DIVISION

Riders that qualify for the PCHA Jack and Linda Baker Classic Finals may enter a Rookie division IN ADDITION TO THE OPEN BAKER section on the entry blank.

PLEASE NOTE: This is for riders that have won less than $500 in NRHA Earnings and that haven’t won a Champion or Reserve Championship in the Open PCHA Jack & Linda Baker Reining Classic Finals or Champion in the Baker Rookie Division. You must not have been a Reining Champion or Reserve Champion in a breed association or National Horse Association: e.g. including but not limited to the following: NRHA Futurity, AQHA World, AQHA Congress, AQHA Select, IAHA Nationals, APHA World, etc.

The PCHA Jack and Linda Baker Reining Classic Open Champion cannot win the Rookie Division. If the Champion is qualified for that division, then the next highest scoring Rookie Rider, will be the Rookie winner.

If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, contact the PCHA Office. (818) 842-8194.
